About the proposal
It is proposed that the Academy would open in September 2010 and would replace St Augustine’s of Cantebury CofE/RC School and Ladymead Community School, both of which would close on 31 August 2010.
The Academy would open in the existing buildings on the Ladymead site as an 11-19 Academy, with new and improved buildings targeted for 2013. However, this will only be confirmed after the end of the Feasibility Stage.
The proposed Academy would be sponsored by the Diocese of Bath and Wells and Somerset County Council.
Consultation
The Sponsors are holding a consultation on the Academy proposal during June and July 2009 and want to hear your views.
The consultation is in two parts:
Part 1 - Seeks your views on the proposal to open an Academy in Taunton on 1 September 2010.
Part 2 - Somerset County Council is seeking your views on the proposal to close St Augustine’s of Canterbury CofE/RC School and Ladymead Community School on 31 August 2010.

How can I find out more?
The Sponsors are holding a consultation on the proposed Academy during June and July 2009. This will include information meetings for staff, parents, students and the community.
